Our Three Pledges

1. Inspiring Sustainable Development
Our first aim is for our events to inspire sustainable development. This is about the sustainability of the industry that our event serves. With focus on our content and partnerships, we inspire our attendees, exhibitors, and event teams to deliver a sustainable event.

2. Running an Environmentally Responsible Event
Our second aim is to run our events in an environmentally responsible manner. The key is considering how we can reduce our carbon footprint through energy efficiency, consideration of our energy use, waste reduction and our procurement choices.

3. Running a Socially Responsible Event
Our third aim is to run our events in a socially responsible manner. This requires us to think about the impact we have on the local community and whether we are being a good neighbor. It also includes how we consider the welfare of everyone at our events, how we do business in an ethical and safe manner and how we promote equality and accessibility.
FasterForward
FasterForward is our approach to sustainability, moving faster to become a zero waste and net zero carbon business. A series of activities and commitments carried out between 2020-2025 will ensure our events become ever more sustainable, delivering a truly positive impact to the markets we serve. We will also actively help our partners, customers, and wider markets to achieve the same.
Our FasterForward commitments include:
- Become carbon neutral across our events by 2025
- Halve the waste generated through our events by 2025
- Become zero waste and net zero carbon by 2030 or earlier
- Embed sustainability inside 100% of our events by 2025

The Steps MD&M West is Taking
Re-Using Aisle Carpet
At Manufacturing by Informa, we roll out the green carpet—literally! We repurpose all aisle carpets from our shows, turning waste into a win for the environment.
Reducing and Reusing Printed Materials
Say goodbye to bulky printed event guides! We’ve gone digital with the Smart Event digital resource and mobile app, making it easier and greener for you to navigate the event.
Badge & Lanyard Recycling
Good news, your new favorite necklace is recyclable. We’ve implemented badge and lanyard recycling initiatives to reduce paper and plastic waste.
Recycling Printed Signage
Our printed signage and stages are designed to be reused year after year, making sustainability a timeless trend at our events.
Utilizing Digital Signage
We've swapped traditionally printed signage for sleek digital options wherever we can, making our events more eco-friendly and tech-savvy.
Surveying Exhibitors and Attendees
We research exhibitor and attendee views on our progress and survey audience travel patterns for participation.
Reduced & Efficient Lighting
By using 50% work lights during move-in and move-out, we’ve cut down on energy consumption in a big way. Thanks to our partners, Freeman and venue management, we’ve also switched to LEDs for our installations, making energy efficiency the new spotlight at our events!
Diverse Speaker Group of Races, Ethnicities, and Genders
We’re all about diversity! Our speaker lineup is a vibrant mix of races, ethnicities, and genders, bringing a kaleidoscope of perspectives to the stage. At our show, every voice counts, and every background shines.
Commitment to Wildlife Restoration
In 2024, we proudly raised $1,372 for the California Wildlife Center, showcasing a commitment to supporting wildlife and environmental causes.

Emerging Engineer Student Summit

Made Possible by the Support of Metro MultiMedia
The MD&M Emerging Engineer Student Summit, an annual event dedicated to inspiring and preparing the next generation of talent across industries such as manufacturing, medtech, and beyond, is set to welcome its largest number of students yet. In partnership with Dream Opportunity and EXP Future, this year’s summit will provide students with unparalleled career exposure through engaging activities, including the highly anticipated Career Exposure Panel and guided show floor tours. Exhibitors are at the heart of this initiative, playing a vital role as panelists and hosting interactive tour stops on the show floor. Their participation offers students valuable insights into industry trends, career opportunities, and real-world applications, helping to shape and support the workforce of tomorrow.
A special thank you to our event sponsor, Metro AV, for their generous support in making this impactful program possible.

Why Donate
Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood. By donating, you are giving the gift of life to those undergoing surgery, cancer treatment, and trauma recovery. Your donation can help:
- Accident and burn victims
- Heart surgery and organ transplant patients
- Individuals battling cancer
- Those with chronic illnesses requiring transfusions
- The American Red Cross must collect nearly 13,000 blood donations every day for patients in need
- Blood products are perishable and cannot be manufactured; they can only come from volunteer donors
Important Statistics
- Every 2 seconds someone in the US needs blood
- Up to 3 lives can be saved with a single donation
- Over 60% of people will require blood at some point in their lives
- Cancer patients use nearly one quarter of the blood supply – more than patients fighting any other disease
- A single car accident victim can require as many as 100 pints of blood
- A diverse blood supply is important! A patient is more likely to find a compatible blood match from a donor of the same race or a similar ethnic group
How To Prepare
- Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water before and after your donation.
- Eat a Healthy Meal: Ensure you have a nutritious meal before arriving.
- Bring ID: Remember to bring a valid ID with you.
- There’s no upper age limit for giving blood if the donors are healthy and have no limitations
